From Nara I moved on to Osaka. After having a look around and getting some rest, I went outside and was greeted by cloudy weather, and as a matter of precaution I took my umbrella with me. At least this time there wasn’t much wind, so it didn’t feel very cold.
After taking 3 different trains, I managed to get to Minoh Station, and the start of a trail that leads up to a waterfall. As the trail started in the city, there were quite a few shops around that sell souvenirs and few restaurants, although at the time I was there a few those shops seemed to be close. Many of the shops that were open sold the local snack, tempura- fried maple leaves.
After a short while the shops started to disappear from view and were replaced by trees and flowers along the route, and down below the water coming down from the waterfall. The sound of the rushing water was heard all along the trail, and combined with the chirping and singing of the bird provided calming sound effects to the hike in nature. Despite the cloud skies, it was still very nice to walk around.
There was also a temple along the way, which stood out with its colors, but I did stick around it for too long. The trail itself seemed to be splitting on occasion, providing multiple ways to get to the waterfall. There were also several spots with benches so that people could sit and rest for a while and take in the scenery, as well as some toilets.
It took me around forty minutes or so to get to the waterfall at the end of the trail, and when I did, I found it a bit underwhelming. It was smaller than I expected, and the flow of water didn’t seem particularly strong. It was a nice spot to sit and grab a bite, but not much more than that. I enjoyed the hike up to the waterfall a lot more than the waterfall itself.
Without too much to do in there, I quickly turned around and made my way back down, and just in time, as I got to the train station when it started raining. It was a nice little adventure and a fun way to start the day.
